Fall Fashion Essentials October 14, 2016 07:00

As the weather is changing, sometimes it can be hard to step out of the house in something other than that maybe too worn in sweatshirt you've had since college. While comfort is key, fall fashion is just too chic to miss out on. Essentials is here to help you cross items off the fall fashion wish list you didn't even know you had.

Leather and Suede everyone can wear

A relaxed leather jacket or more daring suede skirt help give your favorite tee a stylish (and warm!) twist. Target an understated, yet put together look by using leather in a monochromatic outfit, or a bold ensemble by mixing the two textures. If you're new to mixing leather and suede, try a brown leather jacket with a tan suede bag, or black leatherette pants with beige suede booties.

Not your Father's Plaid

A feminine twist on the classic flannel shirt is all you'll want to be wearing this fall. Add some color to every gray day, and make plaids a staple layer by wearing them with your tried and true denim. If you really need to escape the fall freeze, grab your favorite warm drink and throw on your coziest scarf or over-the-knee socks to complete the look.

Rustic Reds

From ruby to mahogany, all forms of deep red have basically become a neutral when it comes to fall fashion. While wearing maroon head to toe is not the ideal way to showcase this rich fall color, don't be afraid to play around with the hue. Basic sweaters, thermals, or chunky scarves that showcase falls best color are a staple, but maybe try a maroon vegan leather jacket or a berry colored felt hat next time you're really feeling in the spirit of fall.
