Essentials on Park Lane is a women's clothing boutique and online store that opened in the spring of 2015. Our store is located in the heart of the Kirkland waterfront shopping district at 129 Park Lane. We are absolutely devoted to finding the most luxurious basics and beyond. Our inventory is infused with fashionable, hip and stylish clothing from all price points.
Our buyers strive to curate a collection of basic everyday "essential" apparel and accessories for our customers. We focus on brands that have an updated enduring, fashion forward quality and you'll always find something exciting and new in our store when you visit us.
We are committed to providing clothing that is functional and fashionable - two characteristics that are "essential" to every woman's style.
Meet the Essentials Team:
Kara opened Essentials on Park Lane in 2015, just as her twins were about to graduate from High School. She could just feel the empty nest coming on, so she decided to follow her dream of opening and running a business. Kara, who graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a Retail Merchandising degree, comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and small business owners. Her grandfather owned and operated a General Store in Cost, Texas as well as her father who owned and operated a Pharmacy and Gift Store in Gonzales, Texas. It must have been in the blood! She started out on the wholesale side of the business, working as a sales representative for a national fashion jewelry line, then took a detour and followed her mom into the education field working as a Special Education teacher in Dallas as well as Issaquah, WA.
Aside from Essentials, she enjoys time with her family both here and in Texas, 2 cute pups-Koot and Louie, travel, UT Football Games (thru the good and bad years), Washington wines, and any time she can get near clear blue water of any kind.
Stop by the shop and say hello!
Katelyn is our new store manager and we are so happy to have her on board.
Katelyn has lived her whole life in Bothell, WA has always painted, drawn, colored and basically everything that is artistic. She graduated from WSU with a Fine Arts degree (Go Cougs!), and couldn't get enough schooling so she just completed her Fashion Marketing Associate degree from the Art Institute of Seattle. She loves dogs, hiking, ice cream and tacos, so bring in your pups, chat about the best trails and places to find the tastiest ice cream and tacos in the area! :-)
She will be happy to help you find the perfect look for your upcoming trip, event or even just the basics and everyday essentials that we are so well known for.
Stop by and say hi!
Favorite (and only) daughter of Kara, Shelby attends Seattle University on Capital Hill and helps out at the store when she can. When you can't find her in the store or in the library studying, she's most likely at Vertical World, in a vintage store, or trying out one of Seattle's many new and hip restaurants. If you meet her and need a restaurant recommendation, she'll have a list for you in a heartbeat.
Rachel and Monica Day (pictured below)
Both Rachel and Monica have been with us since day 1 of opening the store. Rachel attends TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, studying Fashion Merchandising and works at the store on breaks as well as meeting us on our buying trips. Rachel is our summer social media and blogging intern, so check out her blogs here. Monica is our fashionable accountant and is involved in all aspects of the business regarding numbers.
Not in store but just as important:
Loving husband of Kara, the most amazing father of the twins, dog walker to Koot and Louie, "silent" partner, tech support and general "fix it" guy when sh#% goes wrong!
Favorite son, twin and favorite sibling of Shelby's, Whitman College student athlete, all around handsome hardworking kiddo. :-)
